About DTS

Denali Tree Service - Locally Owned & Operated in Willow, Alaska

DTS owner Steve Stine grew up in Eastern Pennsylvania and started cutting trees when he was 12-years old. He is an active outdoorsman and has over 17-years of climbing and rigging experience. Steve has worked as a paramedic with the National Park Service search and rescue teams in Yosemite and on Denali Mountain and earned a bachelors degree in Environmental Philosophy & Literature from Green Mountain College in Poultney, VT. He has also worked on a large-scale fuel reduction project with the Fire Crews in Yosemite National Park.

The vision for creating DTS came while Steve and his partner Laura were managing a remote fishing lodge in the Alaskan bush. There were hazardous trees everywhere, seeming to overtake the small lodge and its overgrown airstrip. Upon returning to the roads more traveled it was clear that many Alaskans needed tree work and fuel reduction around their property.

The goal of Denali Tree Service is to provide customers with safer, healthier trees and forests. We believe that trees in developed areas require special management to maintain a healthy forest. We also believe that trees are a valuable renewable resource and we try to utilize tree material whenever possible for firewood, wood chips, mulch, and lumber.

When Steve takes a break from the tree business he can usually be found climbing in the mountains near his home in Willow.
